You can say it all started with both sets of my grand parents in Texas and California way back in the early 60's and gradually made it's way to the present. Both sets were great cooks and spent decades in the kitchen feeding both family as well as customers. As a child, I watched and I ate. Always having to look up toward where the action was(the top of the stove), I always wanted to see what was happening and help in some way.
At last, as the grandparents slept, I finally got my chance to prepare a meal(so I thought). I pulled out one of the kitchen chairs and placed it in front of the stove. I raced back and forth from the refrigerator and the pantry to the stove, adding whatever ingredients I found to include in this thing that I was preparing. Did I know what I was doing? Of course not! Did I care? Nope! I was cooking, or so I thought! Finally, I was finished! So I set down to eat this,...whatever it was. Ahhh, Perfect! Or so I thought! What I created was the perfect storm or combination of ingredients that would send me racing to the bathroom to throw up whatever it was I made. I learned a very valuable lesson that day. Leave the cooking to the professionals, my grandparents. Can't wait to see you again in paradise! Your Grandson. - Chef Steven Hodge
